AVAILABLE FRIDAY: Southern Avenue Covers Genesis’ “That’s All”

On Friday, November 11, Memphis-based GRAMMY nominee South Avenue will release their take on the 1983 classic Genesis, “That’s all.” The now 6-piece blues-soul act presents their funky and groovy imprint of the track which will be released via Color Red, record label and music platform founded by Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds. The band will celebrate the release with a performance at Salvage Station in Asheville, NC on its 11/11 release day.

While touring the UK, Israeli-born guitarist Ori Naftaly played with his bandmates some of his favorite music from UK-based artists he grew up with. He went further by playing the first three Genesis albums in a row and the band went further down the rabbit hole by watching a documentary about the band. Vocalist Tierinii Jackson has always been a fan of Phil Collins and when it came time for the band to check out songs to cover, Nalfaty suggested an ’80s Genesis hit. delivers a soulful twist with studio-controlled drive that results in an electrifying banger during live shows driven by luscious vocal harmonies and vintage organ and guitar tones.

Honoring the heritage of Southern soul with a 21st century sensibility, the band shows no signs of slowing down after their 2020 GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. The band maintains an active touring schedule around the world, earning spots at coveted festivals including Bonaroo and Austin City Limits, and supporting top artists such as Sheryl Crow, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jason Mraz, Los Lobos, JJ Gray & Mofro, and more.

The band will close out 2022 with a four-concert tour of the Netherlands in early December culminating in a headlining performance at the Basel Blues Festival in Switzerland on December 20. Southern Avenue will return to the United States with a pair of New Year’s weekend shows in Colorado at Schmiggity’s (Steamboat Springs) on December 29 and the Center for the Arts Crested Butte on December 31 (a themed event, dubbed ” A Funkified Formal Affair”). Southern Avenue has already announced several major international events in 2023 including the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise and the Bluesfest Byron Bay (Australia).
