The final Open Streets event of the year is underway Saturday morning in northwest DC

A one-mile stretch of Wisconsin Avenue in the Tenleytown/Friendship Heights area will be cordoned off until early afternoon so people can enjoy fitness classes, live music and other vendors in this family street fair.



“It’s important to help build community in the neighborhood when you’re indoors, you don’t always see your neighbors,” said Kaitlin Madzelin of Washington Yoga Centers.

Neighbors seem to agree.

“It’s quite liberating,” said nearby resident Nigel Perry. “It’s a great change for the neighborhood”

Since the road is closed, those wishing to attend are encouraged to take the subway, bus, bicycle or scooter to the location so they can take advantage of what the businesses in Ward 3 have to offer. to offer.

Road closures will last from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is free and suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
