BEACHWOOD, Ohio – Assault: Route des Cèdres
At 12:40 p.m. on December 24, police were called to end a brawl involving 8-10 men at Saks Fifth Avenue. Most fighters stopped fighting when asked to do so, but two did not. These two, a man from Euclid, 19, and a boy from Cleveland, 15, were arrested and charged with assault and, for damage to the interior of the store, criminal damage.
Flight: Chagrin Boulevard
At 2:35 p.m. on December 22, police arrested a 23-year-old Cleveland man for stealing goods totaling $ 131 from Big Lots, 24295 Chagrin Blvd.
Domestic violence: I-271
At 12:20 a.m. on December 23, a caller reported a man engaged in a physical fight with a woman outside of a stopped car on I-271 southbound. Officers investigated and arrested the man, 29, from Cleveland, for punching the woman, 26, also a resident of Cleveland, in the face. Police charged the man with domestic violence.
Run away and escape: Cedar Road
At 1:45 p.m. on December 23, two suspects left the Beachwood Place Mall, 26300 Cedar Road, where he was suspected of stealing $ 1,500 worth of merchandise from Saks Fifth Avenue. The suspects got into a car but did not stop when the police attempted to carry out a traffic stop in the parking lot of the shopping center. The police were, however, able to obtain the registration number of the car and contact the owner of the car, the suspect’s mother.
The driving suspect, an 18-year-old Warrensville Heights man, is wanted for the felony of flight and escape and, if evidence can be found, for theft. The other man will not be charged.
Criminal Assault: Cedar Road
At 5 p.m. on December 24, police arrested two men for fighting inside Beachwood Place. As the police tried to stop the fight, an officer was shot. A man from Euclid, 22, and a man from Southern Euclid, 24, were arrested.
A 20-year-old woman who was with the young man told officers the older man attacked the young man because the two had a history of ill will.
Police charged the older man with felony assault, while Euclid’s man was charged with felony assault of a police officer. Both were also cited for trespassing.
Disturbance: Cedar Road
At 3:45 p.m. on December 24, a Cleveland Heights woman, 45, reported that she had been threatened by a Beachwood Place store worker, a 19-year-old Cleveland woman.
The customer told police she was overcharged by $ 10 for an item and requested a refund. The employee did not return the money and an argument broke out in which the customer was reportedly threatened. At one point, the employee threw the customer’s money on the ground.
The police did not press charges.
Grand Theft: Greenlawn Avenue
At 9:10 p.m. on December 26, a man from Beachwood, 52, reported that his Volkswagen had been stolen from the garage of his home. The man used the GPS to track the car. Police recovered the unoccupied vehicle in Warrensville Heights. There are no suspects.
OVI: Boulevard du Chagrin
At 11:45 p.m. on December 26, an officer stopped a man’s car for speeding. It was later discovered that the driver, a man from Beachwood, 35, was intoxicated. Police charged the man with OVI, speeding and refusing to take a breathalyzer with a previous conviction of OVI.
Flight: Chemin des Cèdres
At 4:40 p.m. on December 26, police arrested a 14-year-old Euclid boy for stealing $ 148 worth of merchandise from Dillard’s in Beachwood Place.
Disorderly Driving: Cedar Road
At 6:10 p.m. on December 26, police arrested a girl for using vulgar language inside Beachwood Place. The 15-year-old, from Cleveland, was accompanied by her mother, 36, from Cleveland. The mother provided police with false information and was cited for obstructing official business, while the daughter was cited for disorderly conduct. The mother and daughter received notices denying them access to the mall.
Arrest warrant: Cedar Road
At 5:40 p.m. on December 26, a Cleveland police officer who worked off-duty security at Beachwood Place noticed a man she knew from his past offenses was passing by. The officer arrested the man and learned he was wanted on Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department warrants for several offenses, including domestic violence, burglary and failure to appear in court, among other offenses .
Police arrested the Cleveland man, 38, on warrants.
OVI: Boulevard du Chagrin
At 3:25 a.m. on December 27, an officer stopped a car for speeding and then learned that the driver, a 30-year-old Beachwood woman, was intoxicated. The woman was charged with OVI, speeding and driving with a suspended license.
