South Lake Avenue turns into a winter wonderland | Special issues

South Lake Avenue businesses invite celebrants to their annual Holidayfest to promote the many shops and restaurants.

“Our holiday celebration always gets event attendees into the holiday spirit and invites everyone to explore the neighborhood while making memories with friends and family,” said Gina Tleel, Executive Director of the South Lake Business Association.

“Holidayfest is a great way to support local Pasadena businesses while enjoying the magic of the holiday season. This community-building experience also inspires guests to start tackling their holiday shopping lists by taking advantage of special in-store promotions and special foods offered on the day of the event. »

South Lake Avenue offers a range of free family activities, including photos with Santa and a snow globe-making station.

“We’ve divided up the neighborhood and themed courtyards in which we offer free activities all along South Lake Avenue,” Teleel said. “The intention was to get people to walk around, learn more about us, start tackling their holiday shopping. It really gets people in the holiday mood, and we all deserve that. after two difficult years.

There will also be a live music stage at The Shops on Lake, with four sets scheduled throughout the day starting at 1 p.m. Lineup includes Quitapenas, a tropical Afro-Latin band influenced by music from the 1960s to 1980s; Dreaming of You, a Selena tribute band; Las Cafeteras, a group that has a bit of influence everywhere, and between sets, DJ William Reed.

Holidayfest will also hold three live raffles in Macy’s backyard between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. To enter, shop throughout the day and submit a photo of the receipt(s) on the South Lake Avenue website. There are a wide variety of prizes to be won, including but not limited to two one-hour service vouchers worth $250 from Massage Envy, two complimentary CAVA bowls worth $30 $ from CAVA, a five-course package and $300 gift from Barry’s, and 10 free iced coffees, a dozen donuts worth $60 from Dunkin Donuts.

“You’ll do your shopping, whether it’s just a cup of coffee or you can start tackling a shopping list at Macy’s,” Tleel said.

“You just take a picture of your receipt, submit it through our website, and that’s how we’ll select raffle winners up to three times. We have over $4,000 in prizes we are giving away.

Tleel said it was important to organize the day given the amount of activity in the South Lake Avenue area.

“Are you going to attack Santa Claus Village? Are you here for the live music? We offer so much more than you have to plan your day,” Teleel said.

“It’s how you plan your day and squeeze it all into five hours so families and friends prioritize what matters to them that day. Is it to take advantage of photo opportunities with holiday characters like Santa Claus? Or catch some live music? »
