Work begins on Lane Avenue student apartments near Ohio State

A Texas company plans to officially open an apartment complex on Lane Avenue next to Ohio State University on Friday that will house about 900 students and include a yoga studio, rooftop pool and ground-level cafe. -of the road.

LV Collective, of Austin, Texas, began work on the project a few weeks ago by demolishing the 12-story Harrison House building at 222 W. Lane Ave. LV Collective bought the site, including two small adjacent buildings, in April for $24 million.

An excavator eats away at Harrison House apartments as the 12-story building was demolished in July.  The Lane Avenue building, erected in 1966, will be replaced by a seven-story mixed-use development by LV Collective that will include 379 units and 885 beds.

LV plans to replace Harrison House with a seven-story building called Rambler. The top five floors will house 379 apartments with 885 rooms. The apartments will be for students, who will rent by the room, with a limit of one student per room. The rents have not been fixed.

The complex will include a cafe, a gym with an indoor-outdoor fitness area, a third-floor swimming pool with a “jumbotron” screen, a lounge and views of the Ohio Stadium, as well as a yoga and meditation studio on the top floor. A restaurant with a terrace will occupy part of the first floor.

LV Collective expects the development to be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2025.

The project continues the transformation of student accommodation along Lane Avenue and High Street, as older flats are replaced by newer complexes with many more amenities. Just west on Lane Avenue, the Point on Lane opened in 2018, and to the east, the Doric on Lane opened in 2016, and several more are on the drawing board.

LV Collective, formerly known as Lincoln Ventures, took over the project from Columbus-based company Arcadia, which proposed a similar development in 2020.
